It is an achievement just to qualify for the Ironman World Championships in Kona Hawaii. Simon Mckee and Kim Bowling tackled the heat and humidity, frantic crosswinds, and sweltering highway to finish 4th and 17th place in their age groups. Kim, in only her 2nd Ironman event, was first in her age group out of the swim in which she beat almost half of the female pros. She went on to finish in the top twenty with a gutsy bike leg and solid run. Simon was in the mix all day and, despite some nutritional issues, claimed a podium finish on his Kona debut. Both agreed that their consistency in training and commitment to their program set by Coach Toby ensured that they were best prepared for the challenge of their lives.
