A massive congratulations to the following athletes who took their performances to the Next Level

Heiko Shaefer for his Gold Medal at the World Duathlon Championships. At 76 years old he dominated his competitors with sub 5 min k pace running and 32 kph bike riding. Inspirational

Taneil Davidson for a hard fought 3rd place at the World Duathlon full distance event and an incredible sprint finish to make the podium by 1 second.

Sian Reece who has smashed her previous results in winning the Australian 70.3 Championships in the 30-34 age group and was 2nd female age grouper overall.

These three athlete all showed that commitment, discipline and hard work pays dividends. I am so proud of them all.

Next Level triathlon Coaching has 6 athletes training for World Championship events this year. First up we have Brad Clarke who is competing in the World 70.3 Championships in Zell Austria on August the 30th. Brad will race in the highly competitive 35-39 age group and is a great chance for a top 10 finish

Next up Karl Richardson will be in the green and gold racing the Sprint distance triathlon in Chicago. Also a great top ten chance Karl has been preparing really well.

Then we have the “Big Dance” in Kona where Bill Thornbury and myself are training hard for a solid result on October 10th in the World Ironman Championships.

Last and certainly not least we have Taneil Davidson and Heiko Schaefer racing the World Duathlon Championships in Adelaide on October 18. Taneil races long course in the 20-24 age group and Heiko races the sprint distance in the 75-79 age group and is a red hot favourite to be crowned World Champion.

Good luck to all the athletes and may they take there results to the Next Level

Cairns Ironman and 70.3

It was tough conditions for Next Level athletes at yesterdays 70.3 and Ironman events but the tough got going.

Without exception all 14 athletes racing performed really well and although there were few PB performances everyone dug deep to finish off their races. Special mention to Bill Thornbury 3rd in the 60-64 age group and he will be joining me in Kona, Sian Reece finishing 5th in a tough age group and only narrowly missing a Kona spot. It is just a matter of time Sian. Also well done to Brad Clarke in the 70.3 with a 6th place and a spot at the world 70.3 Championships in Zel Austria in August

The 30th Ironman Australia was a great event and reminds me why I have now raced 10 times in the event. The crowd support and course is outstanding. The course may have it’s challenges but it is fair to say you are an Ironman when you cross the finish line. Well done to the Next Level athletes that performed so well despite the tough conditions. You know who you are. And thanks to all the Bayside supporters for their cheers and well wishes. Next year we will have more athletes and no doubt move up in the club rankings. For me another Kona opportunity awaits after a tough 2nd place. Aloha!

Great weekend for Next Level Athletes at the Tweed Coast Enduro. Outstanding performance from Brad Clark placing 4th in age group and 12th overall and with a stunning bike split of 2.18. Aaron Woods, Linton Stolk, Jodie A.Hearn, Jacob Chora and John Williams all raced really well and I had a good result winning my age group and recording the 3rd fastest run of the day. Roll on Port Maquarie in 5 weeks time where I am hoping to qualify for Kona again along with some other Next Level athletes
