This year there was a quality field racing in the Olympic distance National Championships with double points on off for those athletes looking to qualify for the Australian Team to race at the Worlds in September.

Phil Davies was 1st, as he has been all season, in the 60-64 age category and will line up later in the year as a genuine medal contender. Hannah Hammill placed 3rd in the 15-19 age group and after a last minute entry I jagged 2nd place and maybe sufficient points from the one race to make the Australian team. There were another 14 Next Level athletes racing, some for the first time over the distance, and there were plenty of PR’s despite the tough conditions.

Next stop will be Port Macquarie where we will have 17 athletes racing the 70.3 and Ironman distance

There were only 4 Next Level Athletes racing the Asia Pacific 70.3 Champs but they certainly performed well. Nathan Dortman continues to improve finishing 2nd in age with a 4.05 finishing time and 21st overall in a quality field. Brian Corff finished 2nd also in his age with a great PR and wife Kath continues to be impressive finishing 4th. Leah Bennetts also raced well securing a 1 hour PR and securing a World Champion slot along with the other three.

Awesome results for the 26 Next Level Athletes that raced at Noosa on Sunday. Phil Davies lead the charge with a 1st in his age category and I managed 3rd in mine. Almost all athletes recorded new personal records and our Junior Development Team with an average age of just 14 years old managed a 2.11 time to be 11th team in the open category. Wow

Great results from Next Level athletes at the Sunshine Coast 70.3 with 7 athletes in Podium position and two taking spots for the Worlds next year in Nelson Mandela Bay. Special mention for Nathan Dortman who was 2nd in age and 20th overall and Phil Davies who won his age group by 9 minutes!! Was happy to get 2nd myself behind the Legend Kevin Ferguson.

First round of the QTS series had 8 Next Level athletes with podium finishes and I was happy for a win.

Going to be a great season
