What a thrill it was to have Michellie Jones, multiple World Champion triathlete, join us for run club last Wednesday. Michellie was generous with her time and her presentation after running was inspiring to all those attending, from juniors to us older athletes. Michellie’s passion for triathlon and competition was a great example for all of us

Next Level Athletes shine at the Noosa Triathlon

All Next Level athletes competing at last weekends Noosa Triathlon posted fantastic personal best times. There were too many to mention everyone by name but I was super excited by Sian Reece’s 6th place and fastest run in age group and Matt Hayden smashing the 2.30 mark in his first OD triathlon. Just goes to show he is more than just a legendary batsman. Matt’s wife kelly also competed finishing 25th in her division with a 7 minute improvement over last year. And that is just the start of the season

I am excited to announce that Taneil Davidson has won her age category at the Australian Duathlon Championships in Adelaide this weekend. Taneil won by a massive margin of 8 minutes and finished 14th female overall. Great achievements like this do not happen by accident. Taneil has trained consistently and hard “ticking her boxes” along the way. After a well earned easy week Taneil will be back to business and watch out girls for the upcoming triathlon season.

What a great day for the Next Level Athletes competing at the Sunny Coast 70.3. Karen Short placed 4th in her age group, Sian Reece was 7th running a stunning 1.34 half marathon and Ian Ogbourne was 9th with a massive pb. Christie Kluskey, Linton Stolk, Eric Brace and Luke Maguire all had fantastic debut half Ironman races making for a very happy coach who capped off a great race by winning the 50-54 age group by ten minutes.

Ironman Cairns marked the end of the season of racing. What a day it was with rough sea and pouring rain from start to finish. Congratulations to all the Next Level Athletes that raced so well with first timers finishing well and PB’s set by others. Coach Toby was happy to post a winning age group time of 9.19 and 23rd outright. Cairns brings the total number of Next level IM finishers for the season to 14. Looking forward to the season ahead and many more great achievements from the Next Level athletes.
