Both Phil Davies and Coach Toby dominated their age groups to win the Western Sydney 70.3 and both qualified for the World 70.3 Championships in Nice 2019

Kind conditions in Penrith made for an enjoyable event with litle wind and moderate temperatures. Both Phil and Toby have set their sights on finishing well in Nice, Phil will be hoping to improve on his 3rd place this year in South Africa

There were 16 Next Level athletes racing at the Noosa Triathlon this year and those racing included some first timers, developing athletes and elite age groupers. Charles Ellis recorded a stunning victory in the 45-49 category, Phil Davies slipped to a second place by just a few seconds to my old mate John Hill and I was also pleased to get a podium in the teams with Dave Aherne swimming for me.

As well as celebrating podium finishers it was great to see so many athletes improving on previous results despite the challenging conditions and taking their results to the Next Level

Congratulations to Phil Davies who took his racing to The Next Level with a Silver medal in the Sprint distance and a Gold to be World Champion in the standard distance ITU Age Group Worlds. Add those to his bronze at the World 70.3 champs and he has a complete collection. Well done also to Charles Ellis who also won Silver in the Standard distance event in a time of 1.57. It was a week of highs and lows with Hannah Hammill crashing and breaking a collarbone in the Sprint distance event when moving into the top twenty at the end of the bike leg. Bill Thornbury, Julie Bonato and Sue Debrosses and Deepak Raj all raced above themselves in their events also.
